Looking for a Netbook? Well here are some reviews
July 10, 2009

Most of you have heard about the recent craze in portable computing called the netbook. Well what this is a scaled-down version of a PC that utilized Intel's Atom processor, or the AMD equivalent. There are many flavors to choose from, with almost a new brand popping up daily. Here are several that I have reviewed, tested, and benchmarked.
- ACER Aspire OnePros:Affordable, 160 GB hard drive, Well constructed
Cons:A bit thicker than I would like. No optical drive (95% of all netbooks will not have this)
The low-down:Good Netbook for the money, but my personal preference is to get a more reputable brand. Acer has been known as the new "Gateway" on the block. Meaning all their products have less then a 3 yr life span if you are lucky.
- Lenovo NetbookPros:Larger screen
Cons:Cheaply made and looks like a toy. Something I would give my kids to play with
The low-down:Not a big fan of IBM, but colleagues of mine love Lenovo and swear by them, so this one is a toss up for me.
- ASUS Eee PCPros:Well constructed, clean, mouse pad is very nice and allows for multi-directional scrolling
Cons:The name isnt so well-known, therefore I am unsure of the stability. ASUS is known for making parts, not computers. However they have pleasantly surprised me before.
The low-down:ASUS is a computer parts manuf moving into the PC business. The one good thing about this netbook is, its all ASUS parts inside, therefore you know there is a harmony of configuration and setup.
- Dell MINIPros:Some have an HDMI feature. The ability to add an on-board CDMA or wireless card
Cons:Its a DELL (LOL)
The low-down:I dont care for the MINI, however they recently released the Latitude Netbook which seems to kill this one.
